Yesterday’s wet weather created a challenge for many, keeping some people at camps instead of coming out to receive the help they needed. Despite the gloomy atmosphere, we were able to serve 13 warm showers and provide 8 loads of laundry to those who braved the rain. It was heartwarming to see individuals who showed up looking for support and comfort, especially during these tough weather conditions. The importance of hygiene and cleanliness during such times cannot be understated, and we are pleased to have offered this essential service to those in need.

In addition to showers and laundry, we also distributed several coats, hoodies, and other weather gear to help keep everyone warm and dry. It was wonderful to see how these items can make a difference in someone’s day, offering both comfort and protection from the elements. Several people were able to connect with the Path program during our event, which offers crucial support to those seeking assistance. These connections can open doors to further resources and provide individuals with hope as they begin to navigate their challenges.

Our partnership with the Clark County Health Department brought their mobile unit on-site, where they offered valuable resources and harm reduction services. This collaboration highlights our commitment to not only providing immediate support, but also empowering individuals with knowledge and resources for healthier choices. A special thank you goes to Heaven's Eyes for serving delicious chili dogs that warmed the spirits of everyone present. We are also incredibly grateful to those who showed up with donations from our current list; their generosity truly makes a difference, and we appreciate each and every one who contributes to our mission.

As cooler temperatures set in, the demand for warmer gear rises, prompting a call for help in November. We are currently out of stock of essential items, including tents, snacks for snack bags, socks, deodorant, baby wipes, Dog and Cat food. These items play a crucial role in supporting those in need as the weather changes. To assist us in replenishing our supplies, please visit our donation page at https://linktr.ee/exit0 for more ways to contribute and help the community.

We are super excited for our friend R, who has been connected with the outreach program for about six months. R’s journey has been one of resilience and determination. Living in Jeffersonville, he faced tough times after losing his job, which led to eviction and struggles to pay bills. This knockdown brought challenges that could have easily overwhelmed anyone, yet R chose to fight back. With no family support, he relied on himself to rebuild his life, making admirable strides toward a better future.

Thanks to the assistance from Exit 0, R managed to obtain the required documents to secure employment. He found a job that he truly enjoys, and despite the distance, he walks 40 minutes each way each day. This daily commitment shows his dedication to improving his life and not allowing obstacles to stop him. The sheer effort he puts into his commute reflects his determination to be self-sufficient and regain stability. It's inspiring to see how R has embraced his situation, turning challenges into stepping stones toward success.

Now, seven months later, R is thriving. He has found a room to rent, which means he’s no longer living on the streets. This significant milestone is a testament to his hard work and perseverance. With careful budgeting, R has even started using rideshare services like Lyft and Uber to make his travel easier and more manageable. We couldn’t be prouder of him for pushing through each day, maintaining a positive attitude, and making such great progress. Keep up the great work, R! Your achievement serves as an inspiration to everyone around you.

It has been a very busy few weeks at the outreach, especially as cooler temperatures settle in. As the weather has turned chilly, we have been hard at work making sure our community members have what they need. We are proud to say that we have provided 57 showers and 35 loads of laundry recently. Additionally, many coats, socks, blankets, sleeping bags and hoodies have been distributed to help those in need stay warm. Every small gesture counts, and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve our neighbors.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated meals teams. It truly takes an army to provide for our community, and the effort put in by many makes all the difference. Our friends at Chic Fil A of Jeffersonville, Domino's on 10th Street, Speed UMC, Heavens Eyes, Edwardsville UMC, New Chapel Church, and Youth with a Mission have all played an important role in this mission. Each meal provided helps fill not just stomachs, but also hearts, showing that care and kindness are abundant in our community.

Finally, we want to acknowledge the countless volunteers who come together each week to support Exit 0. Their time and energy are vital to our outreach efforts. Month after month, these selfless individuals dedicate their efforts to ensure our programs run smoothly. We are truly thankful for their commitment and companionship. It is inspiring to see how teamwork can come together to uplift the community, and we couldn’t do it without each one of you. Together, we are making a positive impact, one meal, coat, and shower at a time. Thank you.
